| GVL Global Project - Indian Health Kiosk |
|
The health kiosk project coordinated by the Society of Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) and the Science & Technology Entrepreneurs’ Park (STEP) at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT) is a growth venture that strives to operate thousands of health kiosks across India in the next few years. GVL Finland has taken a lead role, to develop a growth venturing strategy for the health kiosk project. Based on his experience and recent endeavours in academia, Christian has placed the health kiosk project on the "optimal path" – using an "optimal logic". In doing so he has created a high growth venturing vision that would assist in making the project a global venture. Using the optimal logic, it was understood that the first step was to create the brand and brand identity for the kiosk. The undertaking has been divided into three key tasks:
JYU student team working on the case in spring 2010 (through the course TLTA630) Jukka Koponen My name is Jukka Koponen and I'm a native Central Finlander. At the moment I'm studying my sixth year in JYU and being on the edge of graduation. What I have been studying during these years is physics as my major and mathematics, ICT and business and economics as minors. In addition to my studies my personal interests consist of technical stuff related to expecially sustainable issues, so I'm highly motivated to projects where one can make the difference. Travelling is absolutely one of my passions since that is the everlasting way to discover something new. I'm also a kind of a sports maniac, so just give me a ball and I will keep running. I'm hoping that the future brings a lot of interesting projects where I can meet fascinating people and keep learning the wonders of the world. My favourite phrase is: Don't be too happy with the present, there's always something new to find. Philipp Mueller Philipp was born in Regensburg, Germany. Several stations brought him to Augsburg, where he started studying Business and Economics. Next to his studies he gained practical working experience in the field of logistics. Always interested in the topic of Green Business, he needed another move to Finland to discover his enthusiasm for Social Entrepreneurship. Besides the social aspect, the Health Kiosk project's demands for high creativity, motivation and flexibility make it a perfect match for him. To relax in between he follows his passion for sports, mainly Beachvolleyball even though the finish weather can make it a challenging activity. Anni Puttonen Paolo Rossi Paolo Rossi was born in a small village in the middle of Italy in 1988. After the high school he decided that the village did not give him the real dimension of the actual world so he wanted to move to study to the “eternal city”: Rome. Now he is finishing his bachelor degree in business management as an ERASMUS student in Jyväskylä. There he became aware of the sustainable and environmental business and discovered his passion for it, so that he decided to continue his studies in this direction. But the most important passion that he cultivates since he is young is sailing, he is ready to do anything for it. Perttu Walden Perttu Waldén born in small village of Jyväskylä in middle of Finland. Got the creative spark from Steiner school where he went for the first 9 years of primary school and the entrepreneurial spark from his dad. Experienced the boom and the bust of dot com's in the early 2000 as a noob entrepreneur. After the boom did multiple sales gigs from investment agent to heat pump salesman. Currently studying IT in university of Jyväskylä and he is known as a chap who keeps his claws sharp and will hustle and crush it whenever the opportunity arises. Supervisors: Christian Aspegren Merie Joseph Merie Joseph grew up in Malayattoor, in the Southern Indian state of Kerala. She has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. After working for three years in the IT industry, she pursued an International Master in Management of Information Technology in France, Finland and Netherlands. She strongly believes that poverty reduction and wealth creation at grassroots in developing countries can be realized only through innovative and sustainable social ventures. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in social entrepreneurship at Global Venture Lab. Jane Porter Jane Porter left her home in Canada to explore the fascinating field of corporate environmental management in 2007. In working with GVL, Jane's focus has been on startups for sustainability - working and researching one early startup in the wind industry and continuously connecting with other social entrepreneurs in the region through GVL and the association she helped start, Net Impact Central Finland. She strongly believes that the most sustainable solutions arise in co-creating across boundaries, mixing up disciplines and cultures to get a more holistic view on the problem and a more creative set of solutions. With "Global Connections" as one part of her job title at GVL, the Health Kiosk project is an exciting opportunity that fits many of Jane's interests. |
