Technology Business is an interdisciplinary minor study program at the University of Jyväskylä for students interested in understanding how business relates to their chosen field, developed by the Faculty of Business and Economics. It is coordinated by Global Venture Lab. The study program offers short and intensive business know-how courses designed for students in the Faculties of Information Technology, Mathematics and Sciences. The program began in 2006 emphasizing business competence for technological-natural science students at the University of Jyväskylä. It is possible to complete the study program in one year (35 ECTS), which means that obligatory courses are held yearly. Marjority of courses are in Finnish. The Program The Human Business study program offers basic business skills for students who are interested in leveraging their existing knowledge in the business world. Aside from the practical elements of entrepreneurship, marketing, leadership and accounting, the Technology Business program focuses on how to GROW a business. The Program The Technology Business study program offers basic business skills for students who are interested in leveraging their existing knowledge in the business world. Aside from the practical elements of entrepreneurship, marketing, leadership and accounting, the Technology Business program focuses on how to GROW a business. Therefore the core topics are growth venturing and entrepreneurial marketing. Electives include venture capital strategies, commercialization, and project management. However, the program is flexible, enabling to students to choose the most appropriate business courses including, industrial enterprise management, business planning, logistics, purchasing/order/delivery processes, electronic business, information networks and management and entrepreneurial networks. The study program also includes topics on international business such as intercultural communication and business in the global environment. Business co-operation Human Business is an evolving and experimental study program, which relies heavily on business co-operation and collaboration. The Growth Venture Research Group operates a Business Partner Program whereby people in the field get involved via visiting lectures, course material, and mentoring. The aim of the Business Partner Program is to offer students the direct possibility to get familiar with problem solving methods in a real business context.
