GVL focuses on the creation of practical, relevant and bold academic research. GVL pays special attention to the radical mindset renewal needed to enable co-creation of great global enterprises. Many of the best will focus on major global problems, not just business as usual. Total commitment requires shared missions and higher purposes. Going forward requires societal encouragement to “co-entrepreneurship”, new conceptualization of work (knowledge as capital), innovative organisms and new incentive schemes. Bold new chapters are needed to the theory of the firm!

Research Approach

GVL is set to create new paradigms on business creation via an action research based “Live Case” approach. A live case study involves researchers and students to work with an organization (in this case, a growth venture) to solve a real business problem. The key to this approach is realism. Students and researchers have regular meetings with real companies, with real products, real competitors in real markets. The students/researchers learn the art of growing growth ventures through active participation and produce research results that enhance academia's understanding of business creation.

Research Project: Strategy Logic in Growth Ventures

Strategic Logic in Growth Venturing – Ownership Level and Business Level Success Paths of the Growth Venture

Strategic Logic in Growth Venturing (StraLo) is Tekes funded program which started year 2008. The main goal of StraLo is to define success factors of Growth Venturing.  These factors can be either Motors or Barriers. The focus of the research is on the entrepreneur's mindset, the ownership, the position and the resourcing.

The project produces better understanding about the success factors of global growth venturing. The result of the program will be an improved understanding of the dynamics of growth venturing. The project has created Optimal Path framework. The focus of this framework is on  innovations and ventures with global potential.  More information about Optimal Path: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The project ended in July 2010. The results of the project were introduced at the international research conference EBRF, held in Nokia, Finland in September 2010. More information about EBRF: www.ebrf.fi
